About Wattyl

Likeminded Painters Australia are pleased to be partnered with Wattyl as one of our main paint supplier’s and look forward to our joint venture and facilitating our members in becoming more profitable.

In Australia, Wattyl is a well-known and respected brand. Its high-quality, inventive goods address the difficulties brought on by the severe climatic conditions in the area. Goods are made to work as best they can, increase productivity, and save expenses. In 2021, Hempel Group purchased the Wattyl brands from Sherwin-Williams, bolstering the Wattyl brand with knowledge and experience from one of the most distinctive coatings firms in the world.

The history of Wattyl begins in 1915, when in an Australian backyard, H.R. Walters created a method to revive furniture with a French polish. This ground-breaking product, dubbed "Crystal Veneer," was an instant hit and established the groundwork for Wattyl's future. Since then, Wattyl has developed into one of Australia's top paint brands, boasting recognizable brands such as Solagard, Estapol, Granosite and a lesser extent Solver.

One noteworthy fact is that the Hempel Foundation, whose major goal is to keep the Hempel Group's financial and economic foundation strong, owns the whole Hempel Group. The Foundation's secondary areas of interest are philanthropy, which includes protecting biodiversity on Earth, funding studies on sustainable coating technologies, and providing education to underprivileged children.

I’ve long wanted to work with a premium paint brand, But it was important to me that the brand had a strong Australian heritage.
