Hemple set to acquire Wattyl ANZ from Sherwin Williams

On February 18th Hemple, which is a global coatings company, announced it had purchased Wattyl ANZ from current owners Sherwin-Williams, pending customary approval from the authorities, which is expected in the first quarter of 2021.

The team at Wattyl are extremely pleased to be joining the Hempel family said Matt Crossingham, Managing Director of Wattyl Australia & New Zealand.

Hempel's acquisition is a long-term commitment to the Wattyl brand and its people, and Wattyl is an attractive business to buy and invest in for long-term growth. Wattyl and Hempel share a common heritage and values. Both businesses were founded in 1915, both have been built on a history of strong innovation in decorative and protective coatings, and both brands have been trusted for generations. Wattyl will continue as the flagship brand in the ANZ region, locally made and supported by local stores and service.

Matt Crossingham said, he would personally assure painters that they are still the same Wattyl - proudly made right here in Australia for Australian and New Zealand conditions. Our heritage of over 100 years of locally manufactured protection and innovation continues.

Wattyl will continue to be your local business partner, with local products, people, and stores across Australia and New Zealand, and now with more global investment and backing than ever before. You can continue to rely on all your favourite Wattyl brands, made especially for tough Aussie and Kiwi conditions.

It’s business as usual here at Wattyl - we continue to work hard to provide you with the exceptional local products, stores and service that you deserve and expect from us.
